The 2023 Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia is a delight. Crushed flowers, ripe red cherry fruit, spice, cedar and sweet pipe tobacco are all nicely laced together. This mid-weight Serre Nuove is notable for its forward fruit, mid-weight structure and overall appeal. Floral top notes extend the effortless, silky finish.

Winery Notes

Ornellaia is a prestigious winery located in the Bolgheri region along the Tuscan coast of Italy. Founded in 1981 by Lodovico Antinori, the estate quickly rose to prominence with its first vintage in 1985 and has since become one of the leading producers in the “Super Tuscan” category—modern Italian wines made from Bordeaux grape varieties. Now owned by the Frescobaldi family, Ornellaia spans about 99 hectares of vineyards influenced by the nearby Tyrrhenian Sea, which provides a moderating maritime climate ideal for elegant ripening. The estate’s flagship wine, Ornellaia, is a Bordeaux-style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, renowned for its balance of power and finesse, rich dark fruit character, and long aging potential. Other notable wines include Le Serre Nuove dell’Ornellaia, Le Volte dell’Ornellaia, and Masseto, a single-vineyard 100% Merlot considered one of Italy’s finest wines.
