History
Del Maguey Madrecuixe Mezcal is a special limited edition spirit that is produced from the Vino De MezcalTM series made in remote San Luis del Rio, Oaxaca, where the Red Ant river flows. Madrecuixe is a wild tall cylindrical maguey, similar to Tobasiche, with leaves that grow from the ground up, in contrast to Tobasiche, which sheds its lower leaves as it grows, leaving a bare dry cylindrical pina. These mature Madrecuixes are meticulously earth-roasted, fermented with airborne microbes, and then distilled twice to create a pure, unblended spirit. This process preserves the rich flavors and aromas characteristic of the centuries-old Oaxacan handcrafted tradition, offering a unique tasting experience that reflects the land and the expertise of the artisans who produce it.
