The Technical Manager of Waste Management is a professional figure who is in charge of managing the entire waste chain, from the initial phase in which waste is produced to its final life cycle. The separate collection of waste is now a consolidated reality throughout the country, a careful management of this that we could define as a resource allows on the one hand to protect the environment, reducing landfill disposal, and on the other hand to have an economic return with their reuse and conversion of the waste itself. This strategy of reusing sorted waste is also defined as the circular economy of waste in which the production-consumption-disposal pathway is actually overcome. The main activities of the expert are basically two: the planning and organisational phase, where he/she tries to minimise the materials that are not sent for recovery and the second is the technological-plant part where the waste is sorted and finally stored as a second material for the industry.

The Technical Manager for Waste Management is a growing professional figure, just as waste separation and environmental protection issues in general are growing. The future of waste management must be more virtuous, identifying customised solutions according to the characteristics of the territory, raising awareness among citizens of the importance of separate waste collection with the aim of improving both the yield and the quality of the waste itself. The circular economy is the next objective and represents an important point of arrival to give a concrete answer to the critical issues we will have to face, such as the scarcity of raw materials, polluting emissions into the atmosphere and the reduction of non-recoverable waste.
