Fernando Santibañez's Xicaru Reposado takes everything that makes the Silver exceptional — the 100% Espadín agave, the pit-roasted character, the small-batch palenque craft in Santiago Matatlán — and adds the dimension of rest. Aged in American oak barrels, this Reposado is where Oaxacan mezcal tradition meets the subtle refinement of wood.
The result is a mezcal of genuine complexity. The smoke is still there — softer now, integrated rather than forward. The nose opens with cooked agave, honeysuckle, and a warm sweetness that the oak gently coaxes out. On the palate, the signature Xicaru earthiness and citrus give way to hints of vanilla, caramel, and baking spice, with a smooth, lingering finish that bridges both worlds seamlessly.
Approachable enough for those new to mezcal. Interesting enough for those who know exactly what they're looking for.
