Villa Gemma Montelpulciano D'abruzzo 2017

Villa Gemma is the flagship "Cru" of the Masciarelli estate, a wine that redefined the world's perception of Montepulciano d’Abruzzo. Sourced from the high-density Cave vineyard in San Martino sulla Marrucina and sitting at 400 meters above sea level with a unique limestone-clay soil, this site produces grapes of extraordinary concentration. The wine is aged for roughly 24 months in new French oak barriques, followed by an additional 2 to 3 years of refinement in the bottle. This long slumber is necessary to tame the massive tannins and allow the complex layers of fruit and spice to integrate.
