Van Brunt Stillhouse Distiller's Edition Empire Rye

This is one of those “happy accidents.” Technically speaking, it’s an Empire Rye. But it’s decidedly different than Van Brunt's standard Empire offering. It all started with a little leftovers in a bottling tank at the end of the work day. They had about 8 cases left in the tank. When they came in the next day, they needed to “proof it up” a little to make it the correct proof. This is when the “accident” happened. They grabbed some overproof whiskey from the nearest barrel got it back to 42%. Unfortunately, they later realized that they proofed up the rye with their 5 year old Single Malt! But don’t let it’s origins fool you. This is a truly remarkable whiskey. It’s almost crazy how just 2% Single Malt affected the flavor. This “accident” is now available to you on an incredibly limited availability. Only 48 bottles exist.
