History
The Macallan Rare Cask Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a premium scotch which is matured at The Macallan distillery, established in 1824. Situated on a ridge above the River Spey, the distillery's Easter Elchies House has been its spiritual home for over three centuries. Alexander Reid began this legacy by sowing barley around his rented home in 1820, creating the first licensed distillery on the estate. The whisky's rich production process, from carefully selected barley to the use of small copper stills, ensures a unique flavor profile. The Rare Cask, crafted from whisky distilled between 1987 and 1997, embodies this tradition, using exceptional sherry seasoned oak casks, handpicked from less than 1% of the distillery’s stock, resulting in a luxurious and full-bodied spirit.
