The Macallan 12 Year Double Cask Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a premium Scotch which is matured at The Macallan distillery for a minimum of 12 years in two casks. It has been crafted to deliver a new style of Macallan, one that is the perfect balance of two woods. The Macallan distillery, established in 1824, is located on a ridge above the River Spey and has served as its spiritual home for over three centuries. The estate's history traces back to 1820 when Alexander Reid cultivated the surrounding fields with barley, laying the foundation for what would become one of the most celebrated distilleries in the world. Reid's initial production methods involved fermenting and distilling surplus grains, leading to a whisky that was both local and beloved. Today, The Macallan Estate spans 370 acres, with 95 acres dedicated to growing its Minstrel barley, which is essential for creating the distinctive flavor profile of its whiskies. This meticulous process, combined with the unique characteristics of the distillation process, results in a rich, complex spirit that embodies the heritage and craftsmanship of The Macallan.
