The third release in the prestigious Dalmore Luminary Series, the Luminary No. 3 17 Year Old continues the distillery’s tradition of merging fine whisky craftsmanship with bold, creative vision. Created in collaboration with V&A Dundee and architect Ben Dobbin of Foster + Partners, this expression celebrates the art of design as much as the mastery of whisky-making.

Initially matured in American white oak ex-bourbon casks, the spirit develops a classic Highland foundation of warmth and depth. It is then meticulously finished across a rare selection of casks—vintage Calvados, aged sherry barrels, and rich red wine barriques—each contributing layers of flavor and intrigue. Bottled at a bold 49.2% ABV, this limited edition whisky reveals a rich amber glow, and invites exploration of both tradition and innovation in every sip.

Why It Stands Out

  • Architectural Inspiration: Created in partnership with Ben Dobbin, reflecting an interplay of flavor and form.

  • Seven-Cask Symphony: A rare combination of cask finishes adds intricate character and a harmonious fusion of fruit and spice.

  • Exclusive Release: Limited to just 20,000 bottles globally, it's as collectible as it is drinkable.

How to Enjoy

  • Neat or with a Touch of Water: Best experienced on its own, or with a drop of water to awaken subtle layers.

  • In Cocktails: Try in an elevated Rob Roy, where its richness pairs beautifully with sweet vermouth.

  • Food Pairings: Matches well with dark chocolate truffles, roast duck in orange glaze, or a medium-bodied cigar like a Partagás Serie D No. 4.
