Tenuta Guado al Tasso Bolgheri Superiore Matarocchio 2021 is an exceptional single-vineyard wine from Marchesi Antinori’s Guado al Tasso estate in Bolgheri, along Tuscany’s upper Maremma coast. Created to express the character of one grape variety and one distinctive vineyard parcel, Matarocchio is made entirely from Cabernet Franc. The estate’s vineyards lie within the naturally sheltered Bolgheri Amphitheatre, where abundant sunlight and cooling maritime breezes encourage slow, even ripening. The hand-harvested fruit was carefully sorted before the wine matured for 18 months in new French oak barriques, followed by more than a year of bottle aging.

Intense ruby red in color, the 2021 Matarocchio opens with an expressive and complex bouquet of Mediterranean herbs, forest floor, peat, white truffle and candied citrus. The palate combines remarkable concentration with freshness, refined tannins and exceptional balance, delivering a layered, elegant expression of Cabernet Franc with significant aging potential. Pair this sophisticated Bolgheri red with roasted lamb, grilled filet mignon, braised short ribs, wild boar, duck breast, porcini mushroom dishes or aged cheeses such as Pecorino Toscano.
