History
Sonoma Cherrywood Rye Whiskey is crafted with a Mash Bill of 80% Rye, 10% Wheat from California, and 10% Cherrywood Smoked Barley from Wyoming. The unique spirit was crafted by Adam Spiegel, who was born and raised in San Francisco. From a young age, he experienced the bounty that Sonoma County offers through regular visits to the area with his parents. In 2008, he found his passion for creating spirits while assisting a distiller friend at the Sonoma Distilling Company. Inspired by the exceptional flavors they were creating, the idea for Sonoma Distilling Company was born. Adam sought to differentiate his work through meticulous technique, focusing on handcrafting small batch whiskey, from grain to glass, using old-school style stills that reflect authenticity and unpretentiousness. He aimed to craft a product steeped in traditional values but attuned to the modern palate's needs. Spiegel constantly pushes himself and his team to never stop learning and to continuously strive to raise the quality of their whiskey. The fruition of his fervor, Sonoma Distilling Company, was founded in 2010, making it one of the first 200 distilleries in the country, a pioneering producer in California, and one of the very first in Sonoma wine country.
