Robert Biale Vineyards Black Chicken Zinfandel 2023 (750 ml)

This vintage boasts an intricate bouquet of sandalwood, bergamot, cloves, and a medley of berries, including black cherry, raspberry, and blueberry. On the palate, the wine showcases the rich taste of plum compote, complemented by the delicate floral notes of violets and a sprinkle of baking spice.

Crafted from the finest grapes grown in the breezy and fog-laced Oak Knoll District, this Zinfandel has a well-structured taste profile defined by ripened tannins and subtle acidity. With proper cellaring, this Black Chicken vintage can continue to age gracefully for the next 5-7 years.

The 2023 growing season started out with ideal weather conditions. After a very wet winter, there was plenty of moisture available to the vines which made for vigorous canopy growth and a healthy crop load. Summer temperatures were well above average and then a series of heat spikes at the end of the growing season quickly pushed the Zinfandel to perfect ripeness.

The Oak Knoll Winegrowing region is prevalent in this wine with its ripe aromatics and juicy acidity. The nose is full of vibrant Bing cherries, raspberries, cinnamon, white cake, fresh purple flowers, subtle dried herb and toasty brown spices. The entry is bright and gives way to supple, round tannins. The lovely finish is the signature of this elegant and remarkably balanced Zinfandel that is immediately drinkable and worthy of 5 to 7 more years of cellar time.
