Redwood Empire The Hyperion Inaugural Batch 001 is a boundary-pushing American whiskey created from an unusually diverse marriage of mature bourbon, rye, wheat whiskey, and American single malt. Released in 2026 as the first installment in Redwood Empire's new annual Hyperion series, each future batch is intended to be distinct and never repeated.

The inaugural blend is composed of 32% bourbon whiskey, 30% rye whiskey, 25% wheat whiskey, and 13% single malt whiskey. The component whiskies span 7 to 14 years of age and represent more than ten different mash bills, drawing on whiskey stocks from California, Kentucky, Indiana, and Tennessee. The single malt component is entirely grain-to-glass whiskey distilled by Redwood Empire.

Rather than relying on one dominant style, Hyperion uses each component to build complexity. Bourbon contributes mature sweetness and oak, rye brings spice and structure, wheat whiskey adds softness and texture, while the American single malt introduces roasted grain and malty depth. The finished whiskey is bottled unfiltered at 110 proof / 55% ABV, preserving a rich, concentrated mouthfeel.

Official tasting notes lead with California walnut and roasted apricot, followed by a layered palate of pomegranate molasses, stone fruit, cream, and warm baking spice. A long finish develops into toffee and toasted malt, giving this high-proof blend a balance of fruit, sweetness, oak, grain, and spice.

The name honors Hyperion, the towering coast redwood in Redwood National Park recognized as the tallest known living tree. Redwood Empire carries the theme into the bottle with a distinctive crown-style closure inspired by the tree's stature.

For collectors, Batch 001 represents the beginning of a completely new Redwood Empire series. Approximately 12,000 bottles were reported for the inaugural release, making it especially appealing to Redwood Empire fans, American whiskey collectors, high-proof enthusiasts, and drinkers interested in innovative multi-style whiskey blending.
