The Penderyn Hiraeth is the 8th edition from the Icons of Wales series. This expression was matured in ex-Bourbon casks and represents the first core range single malt, mainly using spirit from pot stills installed in 2014.
It commemorates the wonderful Welsh word, hiraeth, which is difficult to translate into English. It roughly translates to “yearning,” “homesickness,” or, as the BBC’s Roy Noble said, “a longing for your homeland, your heritage and your very being.”
Producer's Tasting Notes
Nose: Elegant and floral with light oak notes, vanilla, raisins, toffee apples, citrus peel and a hint of lime.
Palate: A delicate smooth single malt with honeyed fruits, vanilla, cinnamon spice and a hint of nutmeg.
Finish: Soft honey and vanilla notes fade to a malty finish.
