Far from the beaten path of Oaxaca on the border of Arizona and separated from the Baja Peninsula by the Gulf of California, a tiny outpost of traditional mezcaleros in Sonora are making some under the radar masterpieces. Distilled from Lechuguilla agaves and blended to proof from the puntas and colas, the spirit slowly unfurls hidden depths of flavor that speak directly to this special terroir and the hand of the artisan that painstakingly made it. Notes of currant fruits, fresh cheese, minerals, honeydew, hoja santa and cocoa are only a few of the things you will find. Only 44 bottles were created for this batch!
