Old Scout Single Barrel Bourbon (OVER THE RAINBOW - Barrel #36730) - Bourbon Pursuit & Keg N Bottle Barrel Pick 750 ml

OVERVIEW:

Kenny and Ryan got a call and were offered the opportunity to select a barrel of Old Scout.  Never being ones to pass up an opportunity, they got hold of a set of 4 samples and got to work.  In true Kenny/Ryan fashion, they weren't able to completely align on a winner and so we have 2 barrels.  Barrel 36436 was Kenny's favorite, and 36730 was Ryan's favorite.

Kenny's family dog of 13 years recently passed away, and we felt inspired by his memory for our sticker theme (Thank you Dave Payne for your incredible artwork).  Rest in Peace Walter.  Please enjoy  "FIELD OF FLOWERS", and "OVER THE RAINBOW".

Barrel #36730, 6 years old, Proof 115, 57.5% ABV, distilled in IN 36% Rye MGP Recipe.  Sticker Theme "OVER THE RAINBOW" - Ryan's Favorite Barrel.

TASTING NOTES:  by Brian Beyke

• Nose:  You wake up to the sound of a sizzling skillet and the smell of a stack of French toast. Buttery bread, maple, powdered sugar, and fresh blueberries and blackberries.
  
• Palate:  The palate is mouthcoating with that maple sweetness, and charred oak, and balanced with notes of clove, licorice, white pepper, and cinnamon - almost reminding you of toasted rye. Complimented with a glass of grape juice.
  
• Finish:  The finish is appropriately prickly, slightly spiced but never leaving those sweet cola and silky vanilla themes that stick to the sides of the mouth in a long, ultimately sweet finish.
