WINERY NOTES:

The vineyards of Nicolas Millet in the Sancerre Appellation of Loire have been providing outstanding grapes since the 1700s. The brothers Bernard and Pierre Millet acquired the land and began a family adventure in winemaking that has thrived and continues to the present day.

After studying wine in the legendary wine-producing region of Beaune, Nicolas Millet (son of François), took over the estate in 2010. Nicolas has continued the practice of respecting the traditions of wine-making while using innovative ideas. This includes organic, biodynamic, and regenerative agriculture farming techniques. The estate received its organic qualification in 2021.

The domain is located in the small town of Bué, in the south part of the Sancerre appelation area. A forty plots mosaic made the domain, On the best slopes around the town. Nowadays, Nicolas Millet domain is 14.88 hectares (36.7 acres) planted by the traditional Sauvignon Blanc, to produce Sancerre Blanc and 4.37 hectares (8.74 acres) with mythical Pinot Noir for Sancerre Rouge and Rosé Nicolas and his staff work a lot in the vineyard to take care of each vine stock.

A non-interventionist philosophy, respectful of each grape is used to preserve the aromatic potential of all future cuvées. Each plot is vinified separately without adding sulfur during vatting, with careful and rigorous monitoring. The breeding takes place then as long as necessary. Finally, during bottling, the wines simply be filtered and bottled by gravity.
