The distillery's origins trace back to the 18th century when John Shenk, a Swiss Mennonite farmer, settled in the Blue Mountain Valley of Pennsylvania. Faced with surplus grains, Shenk began distilling whiskey, leading to the establishment of the United States' first distilling company, Michter's. The Toasted Barrel Finish is the result of years of experimentation with different barrel finishes, featuring a unique double-barrel aging process in a custom barrel made from air-dried wood that is toasted to enhance flavor.
