93pts Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Mainly Cabernet Sauvignon with a splash of Petit Verdot, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Collector's Reserve has a deep garnet-purple color and features notions of baked redcurrants, blackberry preserves, blackcurrant pastilles and grilled meats plus wafts of fried herbs, truffles and tar. Full-bodied, very firm and grainy, it has just enough freshness and a savory, chewy finish.

Tasting Notes

On the palate, Martin Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Collector's Reserve Rutherford 2017  reveals concentrated layers of blackberry, cassis, and plum, accented by notes of graphite, cocoa, and cedar. With its full-bodied structure, silky tannins, and long finish, this Martin Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Collector's Reserve Rutherford 2017 is a collector’s treasure, perfect for aging or savoring alongside fine cuisine such as prime rib, lamb, and aged cheeses.

About the Wine

A true expression of Martin Estate’s pristine Rutherford terroir, the Collector’s Reserve is a wine of structured opulence. Sourced from the Estate’s oldest vines, planted in 1996 on alluvial soil, the low yielding crop develops tannins of unmatched richness and intensity.

Distinct flavors connect this classically flawless Cabernet Sauvignon with its birthplace; its sense of place is unmistakable. Aged for 20 months in French oak barrels from select artisan cooperages. Decanting is suggested, but never mandatory. Enjoy now, or cellar for two decades or more.
