Maker’s Mark is a family-owned Kentucky distillery with an iconic seal. The first refined bourbon, this brand has stood the test of time. Many still reach for this bottle when they want to celebrate, to cap the night off, or to satisfy a craving.
Maker’s Mark is known for softer, more approachable bourbon. A sip gives off flavors of butterscotch, brown sugar, and vanilla bean under notes of toasted oak and light spice. The aroma is equally delicious, think soft honeyed corn, baking spice, and a tiny hint of citrus peel. The finish is medium length. It is smooth and slightly warming, with lingering caramel and a touch of cinnamon.
Maker’s Mark was founded in the 1950s, and yet it’s still raking up those awards! The London Spirits Competition in 2025 gave this whisky a Gold Medal, earning 95 Points. The distillery itself took home IWSC’s 2024 Green Spirit Initiative Trophy, making the maker and its bourbon something you simply can’t ignore if you love bourbon.
What makes Maker’s Mark unique is the deliberate use of wheat in the mash bill and the brand’s commitment to small-batch, hands-on production. Yes, many other bourbons exist, but they won’t be as decorated and adored as Maker’s Mark.
