Taste
Lucano Sambuca Anniversario Liqueur is a finely balanced recipe that enhances the hint of star anise, making the liqueur full-bodied and well-rounded. Each sip invites you to explore its complex flavors that dance on the palate. Best enjoyed neat, with ice, or alongside the classic “Fly” coffee bean, it can also elevate your coffee experience. This exquisite liqueur celebrates rich heritage and tradition, crafted to commemorate special occasions and paying tribute to Luciano's inheritance, seamlessly combining traditional techniques with modern innovations for a luxurious sambuca experience.

History
Lucano Sambuca Anniversario Liqueur was invented in Pisticci, a little village in Lucania, in the province of Matera. In the back room of his biscuit factory, Pasquale Vena perfected an ideal blend of herbs with a balanced but firm flavour. An unmistakable flavour with its citrusy and floral notes. Some years later, the amazing success of the recipe took the sublime liqueur beyond the Lucania borders. This Amaro became well known and appreciated throughout Italy, becoming the official supplier to the Casa Savoya, the House of Savoy. The King liked it so much that he conferred Pasquale Vena with the title of Cavaliere, the equivalent of a knighthood in Italian honorifics. This lucky debut, followed by a great period of positive growth, suffered a setback with the outbreak of WW II, which caused a drop in production due to the scarcity of raw materials. In spite of these difficulties, the brand continued to grow and spread, showcasing its resilience. After WW II, there was a clear recovery, especially when Pasquale’s sons, Leonardo and Giuseppe, joined the family business, ensuring that the legacy of quality and tradition continued. Their commitment transformed the traditional laboratory into a small industrial reality, leading to a peak production of 3,000 bottles of Amaro in just one year. In 1965, the company moved from Pisticci to Pisticci Scalo, inaugurating a new factory that allowed them to boost production significantly. From the late '60s onwards, a large local advertising campaign elevated the fame of Amaro Lucano, transforming it from a local product into a globally appreciated liqueur. The '70s saw further growth and diversification of their product portfolio with the addition of Sambuca, Limoncello, and Caffe. By the '80s, a nationwide television advertising campaign helped solidify Lucano's position in Italy, with the iconic slogan "What more could you want from life? A Lucano!" resonating with consumers. From 2000 to the present day, the company has thrived by maintaining high quality, allowing it to conquer new markets. Today, Pasquale Vena, the founder’s grandson, along with his wife Rosistella and their three children, Leonardo, Francesco, and Letizia, continue to uphold the values that have been passed down through generations, forming the foundation of Amaro Lucano's enduring success around the world.
