Knappogue Castle 14 Year Single Malt Irish Whiskey (750Ml)

Knappogue is rooted in a rich Irish history. In 1966 Mark Edwin Andrews purchased a 15th century castle in ruins, known as Knappogue Castle. In an effort to return the structure to its original state of glory and grandeur, he and his wife, an architect, undertook an ambitious restoration of the castle. Concurrently, Andrews began purchasing casks of fine pot still whiskey from top Irish distilleries.

After they had continued to age, they bottled under what is now the Knappogue Castle label. A 1951 vintage, 36 years, is now revered by connoisseurs as the oldest and rarest commercially available Irish whiskey on the market to this day. Years later, his son Mark Andrews III brought the popular vintage and his fathers legacy to international markets, including the US. Knappogue Castle 14 year old is a beautiful blend of single malts aged in two different wood-bourbon barrels and Oloroso sherry casks.

 Following, this limited quantity Irish whiskey is non-chill filtered and bottled at 92 proof. The single malt has aromatic on the nose with fruity notes of apple and apricot, leading into a rich flavor with fruity, nutty, and vanilla notes. The finish is medium-long going from fruity notes to a dry with a pleasant barley finish. This dual wood blend is wonderful to sip neat with all of its delicious and bright tones.
