DISTRIBUTOR NOTES:

OVERVIEW: "Named after the most spectacular beach on Islay, Machir Bay is the flagship of the Kilchoman range. Machir Bay is a unique and complex combination of ex-bourbon barrels and Oloroso sherry butts. Machir Bay was first launched in 2012 when it won the prestigious IWSC 2012 Gold Award and more recently in 2016 it was awarded best Islay Single Malt at the IWC.“

TASTING: "Machir Bay has a beautiful balance of vanilla, smoky butterscotch and rich fruitiness each contributing in complexity and combining to create a truly unique Islay dram.” - JOHN MACKELLAN, DISTILLERY MANAGER

REVIEWS: “A quintessential Islay peated whisky, this single malt opens with intense Band-Aid aromas. Allowed some time to settle in glass, those notes soon give way to alluring brown sugar and mesquite, and a palate that brims with caramel sweetness. Kilchoman is not just the only independent farm distillery on Islay but a lesser known producer to keep an eye on and introduce your smoky-whisky-drinking friends to.”  - 93 PTS, VINEPAIR (12/2022)

ABOUT THE PRODUCER: “Kilchoman Distillery was founded in 2005, the first distillery to be built on Islay for over 120 years. Kilchoman displays all that is great about the grass-roots traditions of Scotch whisky distilling: in addition to being one of the few distilleries to still practice floor malting, barley is also grown on this family-run farm for limited expressions, making Kilchoman a true farm distillery and the only Islay distillery to employ all parts of the whisky-making process on site.”
