History
Handy & Schiller Barreled Manhattan Cocktail is a unique spirit crafted using Sazerac Rye Whiskey, Vermouth, and Peychaud's Bitters. It is the perfect marriage of a balanced, flavorful Manhattan cocktail and the spicy vanilla oak of Sazerac Rye barrels. Produced by John Schiller and Thomas Handy, this cocktail has deep roots in American history. Schiller, a bartender in New York, found his way to New Orleans and by 1860 was operating the world-famous Sazerac Coffeehouse in the French Quarter. Handy, a native of Maryland, began working for Schiller at the coffeehouse and later established a successful importing and wholesale liquor business. Their contributions in the early days of New Orleans cocktails continue to inspire mixologists today, representing over 150 years of libations in one of America's most unique culinary cities.
