Hacienda de Chihuahua Añejo is actually not a tequila, but a premium Sotol. While many liquor stores mistakenly label it as a "Sotol Tequila", true tequila is distilled strictly from the blue Weber agave plant in specific regions of Mexico. In contrast, Sotol is crafted from the wild-harvested Desert Spoon plant (Dasylirion wheeleri) native to the Chihuahuan desert.
