97pts James Suckling

Blackcurrant, graphite, lavender, mint and stone aromas. Full and flavorful but remains lightly austere in the best sense, giving it tannic tension. Needs time to soften but already plenty of form and focus. Spring 2024 release. Best in three or four years. Drink from 2027.

94pts Jeb Dunnuck

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Reliquus comes from a blend of Grace Family and Cornelius Grove and is intended to be a more accessible expression from this team. It’s a stunning wine that brings beautiful depth and richness as well as classic Cabernet Sauvignon notes of cassis, leafy herbs, tobacco, and chocolate. This broad, mouth-filling, velvety beauty will drink well for at least a decade.

94pts Vinous

Fabulous. Rich and expansive, with tons of textural depth...possesses notable intensity from start to finish. Inky dark fruit, mocha, licorice, sweet spice and chocolate are amplified in a sumptuous, heady Cabernet Sauvignon that delivers the goods...impressive juice and also an overachiever...flat-out gorgeous. I would be thrilled to own it.

Winemaker Notes

The 2021 Reliquus has a lovely dark nose of black cherry, plum, bay leaf, violets, and pine forest. It is very silky, finessed, and round on the palate, with flavors of black and red cherry, cedar, and aromatic herbs underpinned by velvety tannins and a long finish. This beautifully proportioned wine is drinking well now, yet has the intensity and balance to cellar well.
