To create this remarkable single malt, it initially spent eight years maturing in American white oak bourbon casks. Inspired by the velvety smoothness and gentle character that emerged from this process, Dr. Bill, the mastermind behind the creation, embarked on a novel journey by finishing a select batch in Palo Cortado casks, a distinctive choice never before employed at Glenmorangie.

Palo Cortado sherry stands out as an extraordinarily rare variety, born serendipitously when the protective 'flor' yeast fails to form on sherry intended for Amontillado production.

Enchanted by the enticingly sweet and nutty notes of Palo Cortado, Dr. Bill painstakingly procured a few of these elusive casks, known for their scarcity. With great anticipation, he filled them with the whisky, envisioning the unparalleled depth and complexity they could impart to Glenmorangie. The result of this process is an exquisite creation that embodies the richness and sophistication Dr. Bill had envisioned.
