Carefully crafted and cask-perfected at the GlenAllachie Distillery in Speyside, Meikle Toir peated single malt serves up a sweet smoke style impeccably balanced with the classically honeyed character of their distillate.
This absolute banger of a whisky shows off the smoke, cask influence and spirit character in perfect harmony.
Coming in at 35 PPM, the whisky has a sweeter style of smoke character owing to the mainland peat from St. Fergus used to kiln the barley.
After a lengthy 160-hour fermentation, the whisky has a complex character which stands up well to aging in American Chinquapin virgin oak casks.
Distillery Tasting Notes:
Nose: Smoldering oak embers, burnt liquorice and honey, with ginger, butterscotch and orange peel.
Palate: Cocoa, crème brûlée and toasted almonds, with cinnamon, aniseed and campfire smoke.
Finish: Medium to long finish. Soft tannins, hazelnuts, vanilla cream wafers and heathery smoke.
