A rare Glen Scotia single cask bottled as part of Murray McDavid’s ULTRA collection. Distilled on the 22nd of May 1991 the spirit was aged for 33 years before finally being drawn from cask #8 in June 2024. One of just 167 bottles in existence.
The initial maturation was in an American oak ex-bourbon hogshead until 2011 before a lengthy period in a French Vosne-Romanée red wine barrique. This cask has given a real elegance and complexity alongside a natural richness.
Intense aromas of baked plum and fruity tamarind spice are beautifully paired with cherries, dark chocolate and faint suggestions of a family cut cigar. The rich and herbaceous wild berries follow through to juicy raisins and salted caramel in the robust and complex palate. Ripe berries, nutmeg, brown sugar and dried stone fruits finish this spectacular charismatic dram.
Bottled at cask strength of 49.7% abv, naturally coloured and non-chill filtered, this is a rare chance to taste over three decades of Campbeltown character in a single glass.
