The story of this wine begins in the 20th century, on the mythical territory of Fontfroide. Located in the heart of the Corbières appellation, Cuvée 101 sublimates the Carignan, the emblematic grape variety of the region. From a hundred-year-old plot of land first cultivated in 1920 by Paule Bertrand, Cuvée 101 reveals the best potential of its terroir and the unique know-how of the Bertrand family.

This is the second vintage of this cuvée, produced mainly from a parcel of century-old Carignan between Cigalus and Villemajou. This wine, complemented by the oldest Grenache and Syrah plots in the Corbières terroir, expresses the determination of these winegrowers who have preserved these old plots of Carignan which, mellowed by time and the Tramontane, present an excellent balance between load and vigor and an expression of a grape variety unique in the world in its favored terroir, the heart of the Corbières. The obvious choice of manual harvesting, harvesting dates based on daily grape tasting, and finally the choice of carbonic maceration reveal all the aromatic diversity of these grapes with power and complexity. A wine for connoisseurs and lovers of the finest Languedoc terroirs.

94 Points - Falstaff

Strong ruby with purple reflections, discreet ochre at the slightly brighter rim. Delicate plum and fig, subtle herbal savouriness and a touch of eucalyptus. Juicy, sweet and endowed with considerable complexity, integrated ripe tannins, a touch of dried fruit on the finish, chocolaty aftertaste, and good length.
