Elk Cove’s 2023 Estate Pinot Noir captures the essence of Oregon’s Willamette Valley, where the cool climate and meticulous viticulture come together in a wine that speaks to both place and patience. Grown on the estate’s own vineyards in Gaston, Oregon, this vintage benefited from a long, temperate growing season, where warm days and cool nights allowed the fruit to ripen slowly, preserving natural acidity and developing rich, layered flavors. Picked in early to mid-October after a well-timed stretch of cool rain, the grapes arrived at the winery with exceptional freshness and depth.

Fermented in small open-top steel fermentors and aged for 10 months in French oak barrels, this Pinot Noir reveals an elegant balance of red fruit and earthy spice. On the nose, it offers lifted aromas of raspberry, cranberry, and fresh cherry, followed by subtle hints of forest floor, clove, and a touch of vanilla from the oak. The palate is silky and refined, with integrated tannins and a vibrant core that reflects the vineyard’s cool-climate character. With 13.5% alcohol and a well-structured profile, it is a wine that delivers both finesse and a sense of place.

Best enjoyed slightly chilled, Elk Cove’s 2023 Willamette Valley Estate Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with roasted duck, wild mushroom risotto, or simply on its own to appreciate its purity and detail. With only 15,733 cases produced, it reflects both the uniqueness of the vintage and the careful stewardship of an estate committed to crafting expressive and age-worthy Oregon Pinot Noir.
