One of my favorite customer interactions involved this wine, Vignoble Duffour. After explaining the origin and the grapes, the customer thoughtfully looked at me and said, "I know you were speaking English, but you need subtitles. All of that sounded like it was entirely in French." I absolutely understand that sentiment. It's from the Côtes de Gascogne, specifically in the Gers department where Armagnac is also produced. The grapes in the wine are Colombard, Gros-Manseng, and Uni Blanc. The best part is that this wine is a great representation of all those terms and an amazing value!
So why this wine? I have been eating a lot of Mediterranean style foods recently. It made me look at wines grown in that kind of climate. This is the wine I continuously choose as my starter. This wine is for those standing in front of the grill with the kebab skewers the size of medieval swords who need to stay cool and refreshed, and for those standing around, waiting impatiently while grazing the appetizer table.
Wine Notes
"... offers a tremendously fragrant nose, zesty citrus flavor, light-to-medium body, crisp acidity, and a clean finish that makes an additional glass hard to resist"
