Tasting Notes

The microclimate generated by the Clos confers a particular personality to this Pommard 1er Cru. Its nose offers a nice aromatic complexity, of great intensity. In the mouth its power expresses and balances with a beautiful elegance. Very lovely aromas (such as the cherry) connect the amplitude of this wine, with a remarkable length.

To taste from 5 years, may be kept for 20 years. To taste at a temperature between 15 and 17°C.

About the Wine

The Clos des Boucherottes is the domaine’s flagship wine; a noble monpole Premier Cru at the other end of the village. Its neighbors are illustrious: Pommard Epenots and Beaune Clos des Mouches. This is a fresh, elegant wine of lacy definition and great purity.

Winery Notes

The estate came into the family in 1793 through the marriage of Antoine Coste. The Coste family was well known for its ironworks business, which it developed on an industrial scale for two centuries – until 1971 – notably with the manufacture of “Coste-Caumartin” stoves and cookers, well known in the greater East of France.

At the same time, she maintained the Domaine's vineyard, which in 1892 extended over the lands of Pommard , Volnay and Givry.

The Domaine's reputation at that time was already very strong, with numerous medals obtained , including a Gold medal at the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1900. The Domaine was passed down through the women: the Coste, Debrois, Chenot, and then Sordet families succeeded one another until the present day.

Today, Domaine Coste-Caumartin produces 65,000 bottles per year, of which 25% is white wine and 75% is red wine.
