2011 Auchentoshan single malt from indie bottler Carn Mor that has been finished in ex-rum casks, bottled in 2021 (nine years) as part of its Strictly Limited series. The name Auchentoshan is from Gaelic Achadh an t-Oisein and translates as "the corner of the field" (an apt description of its location). The distillery is unique in Scotland in that it triple distills 100% of its output. Thus it is known as "the breakfast whisky" due to its sweet and delicate nature.
Nose: Aromas of cigar box, vanilla, cinnamon, praline, banana, dark chocolate and oak.
Palate: Initially - creamy vanilla, rum soaked pineapples and citrus peel. On the back palate - notes of dried apricot, chocolate orange, honey, pear and buttery toast throughout the palate.
Finish: Short, dry with a lingering Demerara sweetness.
