95pts Kerin O'Keefe

Made with grapes from the estate’s vineyards in La Morra, including Gattera, the 2021 Monfalletto opens with alluring scents of violet, rose, Alpine herb and dark spice. Full-bodied and loaded with class, the elegant, savory palate offers ripe Marasca cherry, cranberry, blood orange and licorice alongside taut, polished tannins and bright acidity.

93pts Vinous

The 2021 Barolo Monfalletto is gorgeous. Deep, pliant and expressive, the 2021 has a lot to offer. I would give this a few years in the cellar, as it is quite concentrated and deep. Black cherry, leather, spice, incense and licorice build nicely, leading to a rich, sumptuous finish. The Monfalletto is a beautiful, highly pleasing Barolo. All it needs is a bit of time to shed some of its considerable baby fat. (AG)

92pts Jeb Dunnuck

The inky red 2021 Barolo Monfalletto is woodsy and ripe on the nose, with lush balsamic herbs, baked black cherries, fruitcake-like walnut, and sweet spices. The palate is broad and leans to a full-bodied frame, with ripe tannins that are matched with a cushion of ripe fruit through the mid-palate and finish. It’s a hearty Barolo but doesn’t feel weighted and is going have a wide window for enjoyment over the next 15 or so years

Tasting Notes

Cordero di Montezemolo’s 2021 “Monfalletto” Barolo offers a polished yet classic take on La Morra terroir. The nose opens with red cherry, rose, and licorice, backed by hints of spice and earth. On the palate, it’s elegant and structured, with fine tannins and bright acidity framing layers of red fruit and mineral depth. A graceful Barolo with aging potential and immediate charm.
