JW Lees first brewed their Stout, Manchester Star, in 1884. It’s an honour for us to be able to use their house yeast – a culture that’s thousands of generations old - to brew our own Stout as a nod to Star. Our take on an export stout adds a subtle sweetness to temper the alcohol, giving hints of dark fruit and chocolate when allowed to warm a little. Turning our hands to the classics is our way of saying thanks to trailblazing breweries for the part they played in the rich history of British brewing.
