The Bond and Lillard brand has a long and storied history dating back to 1820, when brothers John and David Bond founded their distillery in what is now the city of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. The distillery quickly gained a reputation for producing high-quality bourbon, and in 1869, the Bond family sold the business to Colonel C. C. Lillard, a prominent local businessman.
