Description
Arak Farid Artisanal is a handcrafted Lebanese arak with a bold anise profile, grape-based texture, and a clean, warming finish. Made from Lebanese grape alcohol sourced from the Bekaa Valley and infused with Syrian aniseed, it follows the classic Levantine style that turns cloudy when mixed with water. Bottled at 54% ABV, it is best enjoyed chilled with water, ice, and food.
Producer
Arak Farid is made in Ain Jouaiya, Lebanon, and named after the producer’s grandfather, Farid. The brand was created by Fred Abi Khalil and Jess Kandalaft, who focus on preserving arak as part of Levantine drinking culture. Their process uses local white grapes from Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley, triple distillation in an alembic pot over direct fire, and Syrian aniseed infusion.
Cocktail Suggestions
Arak Farid Artisanal is most traditional in an Arak Service with cold water, ice, and small plates such as grilled meats, seafood, olives, labneh, or mezze. The water opens the anise aromatics and creates the classic cloudy louche, while the spirit’s dry strength cuts through salty, savory, and herb-driven foods.
It also brings a distinctive Levantine twist to an Arak Mule with ginger beer, fresh lime juice, and mint. The ginger softens the spirit’s intensity, lime adds brightness, and the anise gives the highball a more memorable herbal edge than a standard vodka mule.
