Tasting Notes

An intensely flinty, zesty, smoky and fragrant white. On the palate it’s salty, immensely concentrated and fresh, with heaps of crushed stone, flint and citrus rind flavors. Medium-bodied and electric, while packing a punch. Textured and creamy, too. A large proportion of the grapes comes from the Eola Amity Hills.

Winemaker Notes

VGW stands for "Very Good White," and it's 00 Wines calling card. Comprising four vineyards and three Dijon Chardonnay clones (plus the Mendoza clone), it's wonderfully balanced—rich yet bright, lush yet tense, showing both structure and texture. A blend of four vineyards and three Dijon clones (as well as the Mendoza clone), VGW manages to be many things at the same time: rich, but bright; lush, but with tension; structured, and textural. This is the winery's calling card and largest production cuvée.

The 00 VGW (Very Good White) showcases the best of the Willamette Valley in a Chardonnay blend. Their "Black Chardonnay" production method results in a complex, savory Chardonnay, which has given 00 Wines an outstanding reputation for quality and attention to detail in the Willamette Valley.

Winery Notes

00 Wines is a family-owned and operated winery that is dedicated to elevating Willamette Valley Chardonnay and Pinot Noir into the pantheon of the great wines of the world.

The Hermann family has been tasting and buying wine from the pioneering families of the Willamette Valley for 50 years. Throughout their decades of meeting the great winemakers of the region, huddled in the back of their small wineries over a barrel, the Hermanns have come to know that the Willamette Valley is a world-class wine region suited to growing the best Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in the new world.
